Plastic Heart Charm

They are usually decked out in swarovski crystals. You can see some examples at tarinataratino.com. I am trying to start a jewelry business and need help....

For my jewelry needs I go to Fire Mountain Gems. They have literally several hundred thousand items to choose from. They will send you their catalog for free. It is so big, they split it into two different catalogs -- metal findings and such & crystals, beads, & such. They even have a grab bag thing they call the Bosses Bead bag. They take the left overs from all the boxes they get in & put them into one big box, dig out a pound of product @ a time & sell the bag. I have gotten items that would have cost 200 - 300$ if I had bought seperatly but they were included in the bag because they were part of the leftovers after filling orders. You find @ least one treasure in each bag, sometimes many more than that. In one bag I ordered last year, I got enough earring findings & gemstones to fit them, I made 25 pairs of earrings & sold them for $10 each. The bag cost me 8$ & I made $250 off it. That is a great deal.

i've seen plenty of online business selling jewellery made from plastic charms and beads (eg. poodle, cupcake, button, heart shapes) but no matter how much i google i can't find where you can bulk buy these types of jewellery materials. any ideas?
i don't mind if they are rare or unique, i just want tacky. and i need bulk because it's cheaper.

Wow, I just did some searching too & nothing! I know they exist because I have seen them.

Idea: Beadstyle magazine has TONS of advertisements. Buy a copy of the mag at any bookstore or crafting store & see what you can find in there. I read this mag & I really think there is something in there or there may be a store you can contact to see where you can get them too.

Wait, another idea: have you ever used Fimo or the other one that is similiar (which I like better because it is more pliable)? You can make your own really cook, tacky, kitchy items any size or way you want. It is really easy to use this clay. I designed a box of chocolates that looks like the real thing! Really fun. Hey, I just bought a bracelet off ebay and it allegedly has a clear heart swarovski charm and another smaller red swarovski bead. However, I do not know how to make sure that they truly are swarovski crystal and not plastic. So, does anyone know any methods of checking it (without damaging the bracelet or seeking professional advice?)

The Heart is described to be about 3/4 of an inch.

I was told this as one way to check but I am not 100% sure how accurate it is - but having seen the method used - you will see a noticable difference.

Get a torch and shine it through the crystal - if it is true crystal you will get a crisp clear 'rainbow' effect of colours on a wall/ceiling. If it is plastic, the colours will be noticably less clear and will appear 'smudged'

Give it a go - if you have other crystal - try it on those first to get an impression of what it should look like.

What phone charms do you have on your cellphone?

I'm looking for new ways to decorate my phone as I love phone danglers.
