I just bought a grey school skirt second hand off Ebay and the silver heart charm hanging on the side of the skirt came looking very "tarnished" but I say "tarnished" because I'm not sure if it even is real silver in the first place - I doubt it, since its a school skirt. Most of the original silver colour on the heart charm has worn well off, leaving an ugly pinkish metallic colour all over the charm. Is it possible that I can polish the charm until its silver again with a simple wipe of a silver polish (I don't have that and would probably have to buy it from a shop)?? I have the same thing happen to a favourite "silver" bracelet watch of mine (has sentimental value, though it was just a cheap watch) - the original silver colour of the watch had worn off and now its mostly an ugly pink-metallic colour. Is it possible to restore the silver colour of the watch again?

I work in a Jewellers, The pink colour sounds like a base metal...not valuable. Like you say...the silver colour may not be real silver, there is no instant fix for this.
You could have it Rhodium (same family as platinum) plated for £30+ This kind of metal plating is used on white gold to make it whiter lasts for minimum 1yr . Take it in to a shop, not with the skirt, and they will send it away for you. ;-)

I bought a silver heart charm on eBay and it said it was authentic but it has numbers and letters on the top (325 ALE)
Just wondering if anyone else has symbols on the top of their charm.

it should say 925 that is the number for sterling silver
I would not buy ebay unless the seller has a great score and tons of sales, I love those bracelets, but I rather get them from their web page

iv been searching the internet for a silver charm which consists of a love heart with a single initial engraved on it.

the type of charm im refering to has a small clasp and can be attached to a bracelet

if anyone knows of any websites that offer what im looking for id be eternally grateful if you could share the information.

Sounds like it could be a Links charm you're after. Not sure about a website but try to google it as Links jewellery or Links London.
