I have a silver celtic cross, and it is getting very tarnished. I'm I guy, so I know nothing of how to get it nice and shiny again. I know there is silver cleaner, but is there anything around the house I can use? I wouldn't even know where to look for silver cleaner.
Thanks!
Toothpaste!!!
Use toothpaste, non gel type is perfect. Forget everything else, this works wonders on everything!
I hope I don't sound like a weirdo, but this is the only place I can think of to ask this:
I've had a lovely silver Celtic cross for about seven years, and it's gotten progressively dirtier [there are a lot of engraved crannies for dirt to get trapped in]. I've tried cleaning it, but to no avail. So, I've just bought a new one.
So what do I do with the old dirty one. I don't think of this as simple jewelry -- it's a cross, for heaven's sake. I keep thinking it would be disrespectful [if not blasphemous] to just toss it in the trash. What would you suggest?
If it matters, I haven't taken the new one out of it's bag yet.
Donate it to a church or the Salvation Army store.
We design and manufacture all of our jewelry with you in mind.
We use only Swarovski crystals in our jewelry.
Each piece is slightly different because they are hand painted.
I have a small 14k white gold celtic cross from Fawlers jewelry in Ireland (got it as a gift from an ex). I don't want it, but I don't want to pawn it. It is hallmarked, so I wrote Fallers, but they couldn't help me with the value. Does anyone have any suggestions of where I can figure out the value of it...which probably isn't much...I don't want to get jipped by a jewelery store or pawn shop. Comments...suggestions?
It goes by weight. However have a look here: http://www.celticcrossonline.com/Merchan t5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Co de=CCO&Category_Code=WG
perhaps you can compare prices.
Glad you found it. :-)
PLEASE HELP!!! I'm not very fond of selling my jewelry but I need the money. Family First. I need help finding a good place to sell them and get close to what they are worth, and a close idea of how much they are worth.
I have pics of them if that helps, and will photo share them at yahoo IM wandering_soul3465 .... Thank you for your help in advance.
1.) I have a white gold bracelet, 7 1/2 inch long, with 12 Sapphires in it.
2.) a 7 1/2 inch long, Celtic, bracelet. It has 11 Claddagh symbols. ( pair of hands holding a heart. )http://www.whats-your-sign.com/celtic-je welry.html.
3.) a 17 1/2 in gold chain with a 10k gold heart pendant. the heart has 3 white stones and 4 red. ( I don't know it they are real rubies and diamonds ) pendant is about 1 1/2 cm.
4.) 3 different Crosses. one covered with diamonds and white gold. next, Gold...I think 10k but could be 14k.. with Jesus on it. last white gold with Jesus on it.
5.) 1 inch long Italian pepper pendant. Gold. I think 10k not sure.
6.) 14k gold S pendant, 1/2 inch long.
Thats all I'll list. But please if you know about jewelry help me. They were all gifts and do mean a lot to me. Finding the best price will make it easier to part.
Jewelry looses a lot of value once it is second hand. To be able to come up with an approx. price idea, we need the weight of the items. Your white gold bracelet could be anything between $ 20 and thousands, all depending on weight and design.
You will only end up with approx. 20% of the money that was initially spent buying the items. If it means a lot to you, I wouldn't sell it.
I want to add here, everything is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. Just because you spend $ 100 for a jewelry item doesn't mean it is 'worth' $ 100. If you want the scrap value, what the content of solid gold is worth, you will have to weigh everything, calculate how much solid gold is in the lot and look up today's gold price.
Cheers

Celtic jewelry traditionally includes valuable stones like diamonds, sapphires, and rubies which feature in Celtic rings, earrings and pendants.
The mystical Celtic patterns were inspired by centuries of jewelry producing traditions and methods perfected when the Celts had been the prominent culture in old world Ireland and Scotland.
The typical Celtic rings such as the claddagh ring are the most well known, nevertheless they make up only a small part of the large variety of Celtic charms obtainable these days.
With the abundant use of unusual and elaborate knots, crosses and interlacing styles peculiar to the Celtic custom… it is equally mystical and classic in its grace. Celtic charms artwork can add a authentic sense of fashion to your wardrobe and are collected by lovers of excellent charms the world over.

CELTIC TATTOOS
Tattoos are like stickers impressed in the hands with a needle and an ink. These can’t be removed like a sticker but they stay life long in the hand. So in olden days and even in this modern world people have the habit of putting tattoos in their hands. They write their names, sometimes lovers’ names or some symbols like spider, scorpion etc in their hands. Since they were warriors they had impression of war weapons used in those days in their hands. These symbols show that they belong to that group. The Celts were not exception to such tradition. They wore their Celtic symbols in their hands and walked around proudly.
The tribal people used this tattoos as a symbol to show to which gang they belong. These tattoos stay life long in the hands, so they think well and then only get it imprinted. The Celtic tattoos are complicated as they had lot of knots woven together to form a pattern, These patterns were very elegant and beautiful and carried a lot of significance, Some say they have some ritual values as well. Celtic cross tattoos have spiritual value.
