What would be a symbol of peace and serenity?

I want a tattoo that literally means serenity or peace(not a peace sign, though, obviously). Also not a chinese symbol. Maybe something celtic, hebrew, etc. And religious symbols such as a dove are rule out because I'm not a very religious person.
I'm looking for more of a word... thats why i posted in the language section.

the obvious peace sign, though that would be easily misinterpreted to mean something other than what you'd intended. Butterflies, birds, dragonflies etc. can also work. But it all ultimately comes back to what makes you feel at peace.

Do you have a link to an image? :)

I've seen stars that are drawn in what looks like Celtic knotwork design, but I don't know if that's what you mean or not...

What is the true religious meaning behind the Celtic Cross?

I always thought it was a Pagan symbol for the four elements. Some claim that it is Christian (I don't see how since it was used before Christianity came to be). I have also heard that it represnts the Sun and Moon. There are even some people who clame it is a phallic symbol!

Incase you are wondering, a Celtic Cross is a sort of + sign in a circle.

Whatis the real meaning? Are all of these right? Does anyone actually know?

The symbol you are referring to is also called a solar cross, sun cross, or wheel cross. It has always been my favorite symbol. The symbol of the wheel has been found in many different cultures with a variety of number of spokes, but four seems to be the most common. In Celtic archeology this symbol is associated with Taranis and is seen by some as a symbol for sky deities or communication.

I highly recommend the book "The Gods of the Celts" by Miranda Green. It has a section that discusses this symbol.

Is the religious pendant authorized for wear in uniform meant to be worn outside the shirt?

Also, is the Celtic Cross a Christian symbol?

Any symbol, religious or not, must be worn out of sight while in uniform. Only military items such as dog tags, name tags, medals, unit designation and the like can be worn on the outside of the uniform. Celtic is not Christian is an medieval religion not connected to modern Christianity. It dates from the 5th or 6th century.

Are there any religious figures from old england that are female with black eyes?

IN an RV session I saw a teenage girl standing below a statue of a woman who's eyes were completly black. She seemed to be in reverance of the statue. She was standing in what looked like a stone church and their were what appeared to be celtic symbols carved into the stone. Anyone know who this statue could have been representing?

That's pretty creepy.

  • Cross Tattoos – The Symbolic Meaning Of Religious Designs

Cross tattoos are a popular choice if you’re looking for a design that’s iconic and rich with symbolism. But the origin of the cross design is unknown. The cross is one of the oldest and most basic designs known to humans. It has been used to decorate all manner of things including pottery and cloth for as long as humans can remember.

In ancient times the cross was used as part of the Aztec, Egyptian, Greek and Norse cultures for many centuries. The symbol of the cross was also used by various pagan religions that pre-date Christianity by thousands of years, and as a consequence cross tattoos are almost as old as the cross design itself.

Eventually, due to the rise of Christianity and the cross being a sign of execution by crucifixion, it became a symbol of Jesus’s death and subsequent resurrection. The Christian cross (a vertical line intersected at right angles approximately one third from the top) is used by followers to profess their faith and the clergy to bestow blessings. These days Christian tattoos are an exceptionally popular way for people to express their Christian faith
