Is the Celtic cross of Christian origin?

And if so, does it bother non-believers that it's the symbol for this section?

what does the celtic cross mean?

because i'm starting to believe in celtic mythology and druidism so i want to know if i start wearing one will people say that there the same as a christian cross??

The four-armed Celtic cross is a Christianized version of Brigid's three-armed "cross". Irish households would have the 4-armed version displayed in the house to please the priest, while the three-armed cross would be hung in the byre to bless the cattle. White red-eared cattle are associated with Brigid.
Check out the triskelion for its Celtic and Druidic symbolism.
Enjoy your journey into the Celtic world of story and myth.

Did you know the Celtic Cross isn't a Christian symbol at all? Do you love to be fascinated?

I really really enjoy to read about the ancient worlds. Who wouldn't? We find new things all the time, about the ancient past- and I find it intensely fascinating.

Anyway- one of THE most fascinating things I've read in a long time is what one man figured out about the Celtic Cross: It's an ancient navigation tool.

I know you will really enjoy reading this! http://www.viewzone.com/crichton.html
BTW I AM a Christian- I'm not trying to say anything that Jesus wasn't crucified on a cross- I just thought it was purely fascinating that the ancient folks were very advanced. And when you read the Celtic "myths" about the Tuath deDannan- who "came across the ocean" Well- they had to be the ones who used this ancient sextant! Cool

Very interesting link--thank you for posting.

The celtic cross is yet another example of what I call "convergent" elements. That is, though it might have predated Christianity, it doesn't mean it is not a Christian symbol. Concepts like linear time are human inventions, so God is not constrained by them. Why would He not have left mankind clues long before the coming of the Messiah?

Some folks are offended that so-called "pagan" aspects are embraced by some Christians, but however truth is revealed to us, God is the ultimate source.

what are the Parameters, diameters, or given dimensional rules for a standard christian cross?

I am about to produce a celtic knotwork illistration and the work is to be based around a christian cross image, so I need to know if there are any "correct" definitions of the cross before I draw it and commit several days of work to this, the picture is for a heavily devout english christian of the C of E . Any "given" rules would be welcome as I am having a great deal of trouble getting any definative answers elsewhere.
