others at work. Will it be ok to give gifts to everyone even if they don't celebrate christmas? i don't want to if this will upset them in any way. please advise.

The basic ruling regarding the gifts given by the People of the Scripture and other non-Muslims is that their gifts are lawful for a Muslim to accept.

`Alî b Abî Tâlib related that “The ruler of Persia sent a gift to the Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) and he accepted it. The ruler of Rome sent him a gift and he accepted it. The kings sent gifts to him and he accepted them all.”

This indicates that it is permissible for Muslims to accept gifts from non-Muslims as long as the gifts themselves are not things that are unlawful. This permissibility is general, and it is not restricted by considerations of whether or not the gift is being given on one of their religious holidays.

As long no unlawful situation arises where the giver of the gift believes that you are pleased with what they are upon, then there is nothing wrong with accepting their gifts.

Hi, I am the Grandma and I want to give or make something special for my grand daughter's baby dedication. She is now 2 months old. I can sew, but don't want to get involved in a large project because of my not so good health, or what else do they give now for baby dedications that is special, jewelry that is engraved or ??/ average income to spend, not tons :) thanks

Christian book stores carry "Baby's first Bible's" that may seem silly - since the child cannot walk, let alone read, yet... but I treasured mine when I got old enough. (I'm 45 this year, mind you! LOL!)

It is a treasure to share your faith with the child - so that when they get old enough, your treasury of faith is there whether you are or not.

I still have my children's Bible.

It had a place for my family information, my date of profession of faith, and baptism, etc.

Currently Pentacostal, but they have women pastoring over men and speak in tongues without interpretation which is contrary to scripture. Thinking of 7th day Adventists as they seem to follow every single thing as the Bible states, but a little concerned about their super strict views on TV, movies, music and wearing jewelry.
I believe in the Holy Spirit and the gifts, but my kid and husband won't go to church with me because of the "confusion" of tongues and the chaos of the worship. Although I LOVE the lively service, I feel in my heart that I need to go to a church where my son and husband can receive the word without confusion and distress, but I need solid biblical teaching and not a snoozefest like I grew up with in the Baptist church. I don't believe in Catholicism, and need a church that believes STRONGLY in the Holy Spirit, and the power given to help us in our life on earth after being saved. Please help me find a denomination! There are some very good answers here about some very fine God fearing churches so I am going to be as brief as possible. If you are in a church which has *confusion *(1 Corinthians 14: 33 For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints,) in it you should bring it to the attention of the Pastor and the Church Board because it is against the teachings of Scripture for confusion to exist in a service when it involves the Holy Spirit or the supposed gifts of the Holy Spirit. By this I mean there are many people that fake a message so they can “fit in” not realizing they are mocking God and are placing their eternal soul in dire jeopardy.

When you bring this to the attention of the church and things do not change, you must find a church where you and your family will all feel comfortable together and be able to worship God as a family. Do not jeopardize your family by sticking with a church just because they appear to have the ‘tongues thing going on’ because there are many churches which speak in tongues that are not of God at all and they are growing in numbers as the end draws closer. Choose a church by the Love and by the Fruits of the Spirit for Jesus said we shall know a tree by the Fruit it bears. Matthew 7: 15-19 (RSV)
15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.

I will close with this; I studied for many years for my doctorate of divinity and I struggled with the tongue thing, especially being raised in an assembly of God Church. I never spoke in tongues but yet I had many of the fruits of the Spirit of God working through me. Deep in study and in prayer one day I heard the voice of God speak to me and at that point in my life it was the first time His voice was audible. The words I heard were these, “Ye shall know a tree by the fruit it bears, not by the sound of the wind as it blows through its leaves.” I sat stunned for I can’t say how long but from that day forward everything has been different. My Younger Sister is Dating Multiple Older Men Who are Showering Her With Expensive Gifts!?
My little sister recently went through a horrible break up with Jake, her ex-boyfriend of 2 years with whom she has had a baby, after she caught him having sex with his med school professor. In a fit of spiteful revenge she put up their baby for adoption and drove Jake’s Mercedes Benz into Lake Pontchartrain. After getting rid of all that baggage my sister is now single and ready to mingle. She has met many older successful men inside bars in the French Quarter where she parties and goes out every night. She has been getting so many phone numbers and gifts from these men it is out of control! She has been able to afford a new BMW, new Christian Dior outfits, Manolo Blahniks, Tiffany’s Jewelry, nails, and hair extensions. It seems like every night a new guy is knocking on our door to take my sister out and her iPhone is always getting calls from unknown numbers. Her life is like an episode of The Hills. I’m very proud of my sister for her efforts at finding a guy who loves her but am worried that she might be caught up with too many guys at once. It seems as if it has come to a point where she has been having too much fun. I tell her she should try to settle down with one guy but she accuses me of jealousy, tells me to shut up and mind my own business, and to let her “get her sexy on”. One of the men who came to our door to take her out last week had a cane, white hair, an oxygen tank, and looked like he was in his 80's. Curious, I asked him how old he was which sent my sister into a fit of rage and she beat me with her private collection of whips and chains. She says she wants to drop out of junior high and make a lucrative career out of “dating high class men”. I have a feeling that having many relationships of this caliber is unhealthy for a girl like my sister. I’m afraid some of these guys might be taking advantage of her in exchange for gifts. How can I stop this?

I'm sorry your in this situation and I know you care for your sister but I don't think there is anything you can do. Your sister sounds like one of those women who have to learn the hard way in life. Just stand by and try to live with it. I'm so sorry but don't let your sister's choices mess with yours. Always remember that.
