hand made beaded jewelry

I make hand beaded stuff that I sell at my local store and wanted to try internet. I'm not too thrilled about putting it on ebay... any other places that are good?

If you've never been in business before, I would strongly recommend that you talk to a business counselor before you do anything especially spend money. I'd call the local office of SCORE (go to http://www.score.org and input your zip code to find the chapter nearest you), the advice is FREE.

The counselor at SCORE will most likely advise you to write a business plan which is very good advice because it will force you to dig out all of the start up details and the costs of starting a jewelry business and force you to also understand all of the aspects of this business including the customers you'll concentrate on (your market ) and how you'll go after them.

Try talking to some of the businesses in your area (beauty, nail shops, gift/speciality shops, etc.) and see if they will sell your pieces for you (for maybe a small commission). Also, try craft shows and ebay. Rent a small building or space, advertise and put on your own fashion jewelry show for the public (I did this a few years ago and it was great: however, I live in a small town in Texas and rent for a space was cheap). I like to make jewelry. Friendship bracelets, and from things i fond around the house, other old jewelry and beads and things from the craft store. Its good looking stuff and I want to sell it to make some spending money, but I dot know how to go about it. I am a 17 year old college freshman =)

do not listen to those people. plain and simple. Find a few local established small businesses and let them sell it for you. give them a cut probably around 40% just mark it up and play on the hand made aspect. keep prices firm and have a good name very catchy. I would put it in beauty shops or very clean retail. maybe 3 close towns with 3-5 locations to sell. Be ready though it might blow up and you might need help when you are selling 20-30 pieceses a week.

We made a lot of jewelry (and stars) that we want to sell next Saturday at our AMHA sale in the basement. We have a few jewelry boxes and two black standup cardboards to show necklaces on, and two tables to lay things on. The star beads should hang, but how? Not from the ceiling. How do we display the earrings? My sister made some really beautiful ones. Thanks for help! (PS: We're out of money, so the display things you suggest will have to be hand made too.) Thanks again!

Get some cardboard boxes, cut them into triangular stand and hang some black cloth over the front, solid part.

Then use pins to support the jewelry.
