Islam - is it wrong to wear a piece of jewellery with a cross on it?
Redeemed.

Is it wrong if a muslim wears a piece of jewellery like a necklace or something, just as fashion?

just wondering.

Yes, it's wrong. First off we don't believe in the crucification so there isn't much meaning of it for you. Second of all, muslims are supposed to dress differently and distinctly from non-muslims, so crosses are a big no-no. Also, it's kind of false advertising don't you think? People definitely will think you're christian, so what's the point? Wear ISLAM proud! Might i suggest getting a crescent and star necklace, as it actually represents you?

What do the symbols, "cross, heart and anchor" that appear on jewellery stand for? Why these symbols?
Vintage Gifts ~ Explored, thank you ♥

They stand for faith, hope, and love. The cross is the traditional Christian symbol and stands for faith, and the heart stands for love. The anchor stands for hope, because when a ship travels, it always has an anchor with it, since it is believed that there will always be a place that the ship can put that anchor. I think the faith, hope, and love thing comes from a bible verse, though I'm not sure which one. Somebody else will probably tell you.

Where can I find the best cross tattoo designs?
Spoon Skull Cross 7

I was never a very religious person until lately. I have had a lot of problems and in the past and my faith is really the only thing that has gotten me thru. I really want a tattoo of a cross somewhere on my body. Cross jewelry has been sort of like a safety blanket lately and I really want something that will stay with me. Please let me know of any really good designs you know of.

Can you wear a small chain and cross to basic training?
Spoon Skull Cross 10

I have a small cross on a chain that's kind of important to me. Will I be allowed to bring it and wear it during basic training? I know jewelry isn't allowed when in uniform, but I've heard conflicting reports that religious jewelry, like my cross, can be worn during and after basic.
Oh, and by the way, this is Army basic training I'm talking about.

Yes you can wear your cross and necklace to basic. Just so long as you keep it tucked in your shirt, and you can also wear it after basic as well.

What is up with rappers wearing diamond necklaces with the cross on it?
Spoon Skull Cross - WIP 2

I'm not religious or anything, but I don't understand why they rap about virtually every sin known to man and then claim to thank god at award shows or how they wear expensive jewelry with the cross on it.

And yes I am very well aware that other entertainers such as porn stars also tend to commit their fair share of sins, but I'm focusing on rappers in particular because they usually tend to claim to love god yet rap about virtually every sin you can think of.

Im not sure but I also hate it when they rap about God in their songs and proceed to add like 20 cuss words.

  • NEWS: The Cross: “just an item of jewellery”? « Religion Compass ...

From six leading bishops and a former Archbishop of Canterbury expresses concern that the ‘religious rights of the Christian community are being treated with disrespect’.

This letter makes reference to the case of Shirley Chaplin who is due to take her employer, the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Trust to an Employment Tribunal over her right to wear a cross while at work. Ms Chaplin has been a nurse for some thirty years, but after refusing to remove or conceal her cross while at work, she has been relocated to a non-patient facing role.

Exeter NHS Trust assert that their request for Ms Chaplin to remove her cross, relates simply to health and safety, and not religious grounds. However, it seems that both Ms Chaplin and the bishops sense a rather more sinister motivation, one of disrespect, if not persecution of the Christian faith. As the letter states: ‘[t]o be asked by an employer to remove or “hide” the cross, is asking the Christian to hide their faith’.

The limit in case of personal carriage, as samples, for export promotion tours, has been increased from US$ 0.1 million to US$ 1 million. A recent study by Center for Science and Environment (CSE) revealed that despite Indian industries, in their present state, are already efficient in terms of its use of energy and emissions, but in all these sectors, technology options for emission reduction stagnate after 2020. There is no way to reduce emissions without impacting growth once industries cross the current emissions-efficiency technology threshold.
