b/c whenever i attempt to tie the knot after stringing the beads, the knot always unravels. it's so frustrating!
If you are talking about stretch magic and those strong elastic cords you hold both pieces together between your pointer and thumb. Make sure you have a lot of string here to work with, it makes it much easier. You waste some but it is worth it! Then you pull the ends with your other hand and wrap both ends around your 2 fingers(your starting piont) put the ends through the hole (made around your fingers)and pull the ends out and pull hard. It also works best if you have a pointed object to stick in the hole you made and then pull tight so you get the knot very close to your bead. After you made the knot you can double it if you would like or take each end in and pull apart to make the knot smaller then pull the knot into a bead to cover it up. I hope this helps, if not email me again and I will try again. I make beaded jewelry on stretch all the time.

I have just recently taken up beading. I am really enjoying making necklaces and bracelets but i find it tricky to make a neat knot close to the beads to stop them from moving about too much. I always seem to have a little gap between the knot and the beads. I have seen a Beadalon knotter tool and just wondered if anyone has ever used this? Are they worth the money as they are quite expensive? Any other tips/ tools i could try? Thanks!
I bought the tool you mention and found it too finicky and gave up. I bought a tweezers with needlepoint tips and use it much the same way as the needle method described by Willeke. I'm still not great at it but I guess practice makes perfect....actually I do more wire wrapping and rosary-style linking instead as I'm better at that....
I've started getting into making beaded jewelry. I have had some trouble with tieing the elastic string at the ends. Is there any trick? Or is there something I can put over the knot to make it stay tied? Like a glue or something? Any help would be appreciated, I think everyones getting tired of picking up a piece of jewelry and having beads go everywhere!
To "knot" your jewelry get 4 crimp beads. At each end of the necklace, bracelet, ECT. make a loop (not a knot) and put two crimp beads on holding the loop together. Use pliars or some tool like that to scrunch the crimp beads flat. BEFORE you do that though you should put a clasp on one side (place it in the loop) and then put on the srimp beads.
Hope I helped!
I don't want to use any type of metals for my jewelry. I'm starting to experiment with waxed cotton cord, I just can't figure out what's the best knot to finish each piece?! Any tutorials out there that are helpful? I prefer visuals than just written instruction.
Thanks!
My mom uses fingernail polish (clear) after tying a regular square knot. I'm not sure if she uses waxed cotton cord, however, but it might work for that as well.
I currently finish my leather necklaces with cord ends, but I would like to make some with a knot & loop closure. I can't find anything on the web.
Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated!
You can try a Turks Head Knot: http://knopen.ismijnhobby.nl/tables/turk shead_table.html
or a Monkeys Fist: http://www.igkt.net/beginners/monkeys-fi st.html
for your knot.
The loop you can make by just tying a loop with an overhand knot in doubled string, but there are nicer options.
The one I like best is the Chinese Button Knot: http://www.chineseknotting.org/button/
