Personally, I just hate Abercrombie&Fitch, and Hollister. I prefer Lacoste, Bebe, Louis Vuitton, and definetly Ralph Lauren&Polo. Abercrombie is for suburban and city kids, whom that's the closest to designer brand they can get! The brands I just named are very pricey, but their clothes are all handmade, and made from very good quality. In Abercrombie, their products are overpriced, and made from crappy material. I know it's a free country, and they can play their music as loud as they want to, but there is a limit. Say there is a fine jewelry store next door, and a man is buying his wife a nice present for some special occacion. They don't want loud music going on while having a romantic shopping spree. And a large % of the world has asthma. They spray their mens cologn every hour. . I go to a Chicago private school, and all the popular peeps wear abercrombie, and me and my frends wear the brands i just said. i think something is wrong with that. (i'll finishe the rest in mor details)
Have you notice only whites and white washed asians shop there? And that the A&F models only wear jeans? No shirt. And the woman's breast is on the man's chest? That's almost porn. I really think they should change that. Also, the people who work there aren't friendly. I was returning something there because the outfit was made out of %100 polyester, and that's bad for my skin. so they guys like, "what's wrong with it?" in a really snobby tone, like i did something with it. and i'm like "it just didn't work for me". they should get better customer service. also, for all you blacks and asians out there, there was a law suit filed against abercrombie and hollister because they only hired white people. well that's all

you know that law suit you mentioned? well ever since that , i think they have shaped up a little. how do i know? because last time i went into that store there was a BLACK salesperson, and she was really nice and honest. we asked if there was any white shirts good for concerts and she truthfully said in a very nice and caring tone "Well, actually most of the white shirts here are see through so I don't think you will find anything that is suitable for a concert" so i just dont get why everyone is saying the salesperson are rude and snobby. and i dont shop there, not in my budget. american eagle and sumtimes hollister for me!!

Um... i want to get my dad a nice birthday gift.. not handmade, something that he can use daily. but i dont know what to get him .. he never tells me what hes wants. mens are so hard to choose gifts for.... girls are easy, becuz you can give them cosmetics, jewelry, and other stuff.. but guys are soo much harder.. can someone help me??
he doesn,t like sweets, he already has ties and wallets. i tried looking for other things like nice shoes, or watches, or stuff like that but its way to expensive.. dont tell me to make cards or anything..

Planning to go to Bangladesh in a week, would appreciate if anyone can get me some answers for the following so I can budget my spending spree accordingly

5) Large, what I call "taliban" Shawls
6) Prices for DVDs and PS3 games (is it safe to get PS3 games to work on European machines from there...?)
7) Prices for women's jewellery (real things not "chemical" jewellery) and where to get them from (I'll be in Sylhet mostly and Dhaka for only a few days)
8) Cost of Rikshaws and litus/cars/taxis
9) I want presents for people, so prices for things like handmade arts and crafts, paintings, branded clothing etc
10) Mens sandals (too hot for shoes)

Mens suits seem expensive - is that price for really high quality stuff or just average quality?
Because it works out at about £50 which is what I can expect to pay here in the UK for average suits.

Are you planning to go to North Pole or South Pole?..lol! I live in Bangladesh and I can vouch that if you are having USD or GBP then you would find that the prices are almost half than what those items would cost you in your country of residence now. Just to give a few idea (1USD = Taka 70 approx):

All I can think after reading your question is that you are a bit worrying too much for the costs. Moreover, price of anything depends on the Quality and other parameters. I have given you the prices based on the minimum quality level or average quality level in mind. You can make out list of few items and give as much allied info as possible, so that you get accurate answers. It took my time to think and answer, but I am not happy with the quality of my own answer..lol!

There is a PL in Dhaka, but I'm no sure about any public libraries in Sylhet. Here you can't buy books from public-library. However, there are many commercial bookstores in and around New Market and Shahbagh area. PS. Nilkhet book market is famous for second-hand books and magazines. All these are adjacent to Dhaka University

Rickshaw ride starts from Taka 5/- for may be 200 meters distance. There is no standard as such, but we pay them anyway since these are people directly putting their muscles at work for our comfort. At first I was appalled to find people pulling people when I came to BD back in 1973. Now I am acclimatised to this inhuman profession and pay them adequately or more out of my guilt feeling.

Gold is weighed in the unit of Bhori = 11.67 g = 0.411647 oz

There are many reputable jewelery shops in Dhaka, like Amin Jewellers, Venus, L.Rahman etc. I am sure they have branch in Sylhet also.

Mens suits of average quality can be custom made for as low as Tk. 3,000/- (material + sewing charge).
