For a long time women especially have worn gold or silver and it always seems popular. I understand wearing perfume to attrach someone through smell and make up to alter the face - but what does jewellery actually do? Interested to hear mens thoughts too - is it a "turn on" or don't you notice?

Ok, one thing you should know about this type of jewelery is that it is supposed to be custom engraved, like one of my ex's got me this exact thing, and had it engraved with Jess <3 Chris. (The <3 is a heart, btw) so it is designed to be personal, so you kinda have to get the engraving. that being said, mine was stainless steel instead of silver, which would be a lot cheaper, and is a really cool peace of jewellery. I wore it even after we were over cause it went really well with some of my clothes. As for any other type of mens jewlrey, i would agree that a gold piece is nice, especially for a chain necklace. The important thing in mens jewellery is that it is understated, never too complex and not too flashy.

I am assuming you are looking for sterling silver. Sterling silver is stamped .925 and that proves that you're getting what you're paying for. I took a look at your link, and the price is a bit low for what they are selling. It comes down to being smart with Ebay purchases. I wouldn't go for it, simply because there are NO returns on the item, and basically if you get an item that doesn't meet your expectations or worse, that is not as advertised, you have no way out and you're stuck with it.
A real necklace as the one you posted should retail at a jewellery store around $100.00.
The price of silver is actually going up, and as of today it stands at $18.00/ounce raw, before it's processed. You must also take into consideration the labour, intricacy of design, shipping etc. before you arrive at the retail price of the jewellery in question.

IS very very expensive to buy and use.
To melt silver you will need a Professional set up
And the cost of the raw materials will also set you back quite a bit.
Why not do silver smithing classes at your local night school.
Its a good hobby and may be a career as well.
