are rural people poor countries more religious because they still hear church bells?
Santorini

...and the starry sky with the milkyway and the crickets and frogs of the fields, sweeping winds and the trees greeting and waving at them!
Angie you speak from experience. I also saw this in my good friend who came from a farmer family. Now hes a nurse, but they still have that graceful simplicity. Sorry if I'm cheezy but its true.

Im from the country in the US but i'll answer anyway. Yea, christianity is a common part of our lives. Just like getting up every morning to work in the fields and take care of the animals. (atleast for us farmers) Afterall, science isn't going to feed you and your family when all of your crops get drowned by floods,or scorched by droughts. What are u going to do when the only person that can save your family and your entire living is the creater of the universe, controller of mother nature?(atleast thats what we believe)

Monty Python - Bells (atheist,agnostic)

Man: I wish those bloody bells would stop. Wife: Oh, it#39;s quite nice dear, it#39;s Sunday, it#39;s the church. Man: What about us atheists ...

What reasons would you use to influence your family to buy religious christmas card's?
Stained Glass Layout of Christmas Seals (1940s)

Card's that celebrate the birth of jesus have almost vanished from the shop's and we are happy to buy robins, snowmen and jungle bells.

What reasons would you use to influence your family to buy religious christmas card's?
I pefer Pretty snowman cards, i just need to get some reasons why religous is better.

Wow ! You've got some extremely negative responses here! Did you know, just that alone is enough to discourage those who might have a good reason to even answer this question? So, anyway, at the risk of many thumbs down, I'm happy to let you know I have found some reasons why religious may be better (sometimes). This year, I've sent some that didn't appear that religious, but had a very wonderful and inspirational biblical verse, and just the right sentiment to the family member I was sending the card to. Perfection ! Also, I've found that I'm much more comfortable sending really religious cards to those that I've known have a history of religious participation and / or have expressed their true beliefs in their religion - I also get a much better response back, later on down the road ! To these very religious folks, I've found it easy to find religious cards, ranging frrom the inexpensive yet glorious to more expensive and epiphany related ! Otherwise, I must confess, I too somehow prefer secular holiday artwork with a humorous remark - the more humorous the better with all these negativos around. I mean really !!! Remember, Joy is from God !

Well, hope all this gives you an idea about how to send more religious cards !

Do you think Church Bells ringing are offensive?
Tlaquepaque Chapel - Sedona

I guess they are now in Phoenix

The leader of a Valley church gets three years probation and a ten day suspended jail sentence for ringing church bells .

Last month, Bishop Richard Painter of Cathedral of Christ the King Church was convicted of violating noise ordinances.

A Phoenix judge convicted the Bishop without any set standard or noise dosimeter readings, instead relying on testimony from four neighbors who said the bells were a problem.

The bells chimed every hour between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. The judge will allow the bells to ring once once Sundays and once during religious holidays. With help from the Alliance Defense Fund, Bishop Painter will appeael the conviction.

Funny how things pertaining to the Christian Faith went on fine for hundreds of years, but now things are intolerant, offensive and bigoted..

Just more proof of what Jesus said would happen in the Last Days in the last generation is spot on!

I'm Jewish, but I think the church bells ringing sounds beautiful. I hear them from the house I work at in the city- they ring every half hour! Of course, I'm in the SOuth, so it's probably tolerated (and expected!) more here than the rest of the US! No problem for me, though!

Why did my question get reported - "Are Church bells a violation of noise ordinance?"?
For whom the bells toll

Some cities don't specifically protect them. Some cities have restricted their use to decibel range, frequency of use, hours of use, or prohibited them all together or exempted other forms of religious noise such as islamic call to prayer.

Standard reason. You twisted someone's panties who though you were some kind of a nutball and reported you; and Y/A generally just pulls reported questions and deals with the objections later.

Why do people let themselves be conned by these religious nuts ?

Someone claiming he could talk to Angels would have the alarm bells ringing straight away.
Are people who fall for this rubbish stupid or desperate ?

This is why the clergy will receive a double portion of punishment...they mislead the people....They are blind guides. The Catholic Priests will tell you they do not go by the bible but by the traditions of men passed on by the spoken word not the written word of the bible.
They mostly do it for the money.

When will the public see they need to obey Jehovah when he says to flee from these churches?

  • 89.3 WFPL | In Depth: Religious Billboards Debated In Frankfort

By Tony McVeigh, Kentucky Public Radio

In the waning days of the 2010 Kentucky General Assembly, environmentalists find themselves in the sensitive position of challenging legislation aimed at protecting religious billboards.

Along I-65 in LaRue and Hart counties are two billboards bearing religious messages like “Hell is Real,” and the Ten Commandments. The signs were paid for by Jimmy Harston of Scottsville, who says he has erected similar signs in several states. The billboards are on private property and both are illegal, says Chuck Wolfe of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

“(It) had nothing to do with the message,” said Wolfe. “It was just the cabinet’s position that they are illegal because of their placement and the potential for distraction. That’s a highway safety issue.”

Screaming queens and wedding bells « Missoula Red Tape

So it’s a good thing, really, that Chico hot springs isn’t closer. The S.O. and I spent a long weekend and plenty of pocket change there after attending a wedding in Bozeman.

Chico had copies of the Billings Gazette on its coffee tables, and there I read about a wedding in England that reminded me of happenings around Missoula. A Very Important gay Person in England got hitched, and in a Very Important Place. That story here. (Matching solid purple ties? Really??)

There’s no wedding planned for Council Chambers as far as I know, but there is a hearing coming up on the proposed anti-discrimination ordinance. Ryan Morton, a native Missoulian and frequent commenter on Red Tape, forwarded his letter to Mayor John Engen and the Missoula City Council about the proposal. It’s to protect folks from being booted from homes and jobs because of their sexual orientation and gender identity.
