tiny silver charm

This debate gives me a headache, but now I am curious.

I am a fan of both silver and gold although all of my jewelry is yellow gold. Recently I had a friend give me a bracelet as a gift and on it, there is a tiny silver charm. I haven't taken the bracelet off since I've received it as it has much meaning to me (the charm is very symbolic), but I wonder if it will be cohesive with the gold I wear on a regular basis, primarily rings and necklaces.
Finally... some rationalism!

Everyone has given pretty solid answers within just a few minutes of my posting. I greatly appreciate it. Seems to be a personal preference for the most part, even though I'm still wary on mixing the two. I found this article which manages to give a pretty rational insight into if you do mix the two metals, the "proper" way to do so.

Considering that many high end jewelry shops and designers mix gold and silver (white gold or platinum) in one piece, there's obviously nothing wrong with mixing the metals in the least. Some of the finest pieces mix up to three shades of gold, yellow, white, and pink without any worry to the "don't mix metals" rule. I find it to be one of those quaint, slightly dated old fashioned "rules of correct dressing" similar to afternoon gloves and no white shoes after labor day. I've never thought of wearing all the same coloured meals as cohesive, I consider it rigid and somewhat un-imaginative and un-original.

If the piece has a deep, personal meaning for you then wear it and don't worry. It's importance to you will make it cohesive not only with what you wear on the outside, but with who you are on the inside..

New Kids Tiny Jewellery Tiny Silver Clip On Earrings And Hair Slides With Tiny Charms None Tarnish Silver

It is a tiny off white charm, carved into a scarab beetle. I got it years ago from an aunt that collects antiques, and she didnt know anything about it, just found it with a bunch of other old stuff. It has some hieroglyphics on the back, I dont know what they mean, and it appears to be either Ivory or bone. Ive searched the internet over and cannot figure out anything on it, but I know its old. It has a piece of silver that goes through the bead holes and make a kind of hook at the top, like it could be a necklace. Can anyone help me out with this, or give me some links of where I could find more information about it? Thanks :)

Sounds like an art deco piece out of the jazzy period of the twenties and thirties where the King Tut craze brought a heavy egyptian influence to art and fashion. From some time in the twenties to about 1935 the scarab was in fashion. There was even some ecentric celeb that had one of the real beetles imported, encrusted with gold and jewels and wore it live on a chain to wander thier clothes. I don't remember who and am unable to find any info about them on the net.

I have a sterling silver choker that has a very delicate chain and some highly detailed medallions/charms hanging from it that has tarnished. Is there an easy way to clean and shine it up with all those tiny little lines and grooves? I would love to wear it again. How do I prevent it from tarnishing again? Is that even possible?

I just looked up the bracelet on the internet and it was a $95 gift. He gave it to me with a tiny silver key on which he said was the key to his heart. today, it was on in the morning, but just now, whilst at the beach with my family, i was looking at the bracelet and realised it was gone. WHAT DO I DO? ive looked everywhere. do i tell him? go and replace it ? :( im so upset. HELP

if you dont mind him being upset you should tell him ( after you replace it ) that u lost it on accident and it really meant alot to you and you went and bought a replacement for it. depending on how your b/f is he will say its okay im glad you replaced it or he could be upset and say u should have taken better care if it, i highly doubt u have anything to ruin by telling him, if he gets really upset over it then tell him that ur truly really sorry and yaddidadidah, if hes still mad then he isnt a very good b/f if he cant understand ur feelings about it =]

I bought a charm necklace for a friend at school who I thought used to cut hair, but for some reason I got confused and she doesn't cut hair at all!
The necklace is silver with a tiny pair of scissors (silver charm) at the end of it.
I am unable to find the receipt, and I have no idea what to do with it.
I thought I could give it to someone else for christmas... but with a pair of scissors as the charm?
I tried to find some inspirational quotes online about life vs scissors, but I
can't find any.
I thought maybe if I put a nice quote like that in with the necklace, it would be able
to mean something to the person I gave it too.
