Nobody read my question correctly - I AM the jewelry maker. Why would I go to a jeweller and pay them? The whole point is I am the one making the jewelry to sell. First off, you are not going to get unique settings out of sterling and 14k gold inexpensively. The only way to get settings made of precious metal for a lesser price is to purchase a mass-produced setting.

Secondly, you are not the "jewelry maker" if you are purchasing premade settings--you are an assembler.

Thirdly, the economics of the handmade jewlerly market is that few people can generate enough profit assembling premade settings and selling the completed pieces.

My suggestion is that you get yourself some education on how to properly fabricate settings of your own. You will then have unique settings that you can control the cost of. There are many fine opportunities for education in jewelry fabrication out there. Two good places to start your local community colleges and your local lapidary/gem & mineral societies.

Go directly to a jeweller and take to them. Many can design one for you. I had ruby pinky ring made for my husbands 50th birthday. Yes is cost $3200.00 Cdn but it was worth it. The jeweller had payment plans.

My friend and I are starting a new buisness, and both of us are having trouble thinking of a new sophisticated name..help! We are bascially making sterling silver and gold filled jewerly with Swavorski crystals, beautiful pieces!! So we need a unque but attention catching name.
