Thank you for your answering.
God bless you.
ok lets start with the chaplet
A Chaplet is a short (5 min?) prayer that is said on a Rosary.
There are many different Chaplets. All are usually very easy to recite and memorize.
Probably the most popular chaplet, certainly the most powerful is the Divine Mercy Chaplet.
Here's a D.M. website http://www.chapletofdivinemercy.net/
It is very easy to do and very easily memorized.
Now on to the Rosary
The Rosary is two things
1st It is an object.
2nd it's a prayer
One prays a Rosary on a Rosary. It takes about 15 mins.
It's a little longer to memorize but very worth it in the end as it brings with it a incalculable amount of graces and blessings from God.
Here is a site where learning the Rosary is made easy.

as a previous post has already mentioned:
THERE ARE FIFTEEN PROMISES OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN TO CHRISTIANS WHO FAITHFULLY PRAY THE ROSARY
1 To all those who shall pray my Rosary devoutly, I promise my special protection and great graces.
2 Those who shall persevere in the recitation of my Rosary will receive some special grace.
3 The Rosary will be a very powerful armor against hell; it will destroy vice, deliver from sin and dispel heresy.
4 The rosary will make virtue and good works flourish, and will obtain for souls the most abundant divine mercies. It will draw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
5 Those who trust themselves to me through the Rosary will not perish.
6 Whoever recites my Rosary devoutly reflecting on the mysteries, shall never be overwhelmed by misfortune. He will not experience the anger of God nor will he perish by an unprovided death. The sinner will be converted; the just will persevere in grace and merit eternal life.
7 Those truly devoted to my Rosary shall not die without the sacraments of the Church.
8 Those who are faithful to recite my Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plenitude of His graces and will share in the merits of the blessed.
9 I will deliver promptly from purgatory souls devoted to my Rosary.
10 True children of my Rosary will enjoy great glory in heaven.
11 What you shall ask through my Rosary you shall obtain.
12 To those who propagate my Rosary I promise aid in all their necessities.
13 I have obtained from my Son that all the members of the Rosary Confraternity shall have as their intercessors, in life and in death, the entire celestial court.
14 Those who recite my Rosary faithfully are my beloved children, the brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ.
15 Devotion to my Rosary is a special sign of predestination.
all these promises are true and can be counted on.
Peace and God bless
The Chaplet of Our Lady#39;s Tears is a very powerful spiritual weapon as well as a beautiful meditation on the life of Jesus Christ and his ...
do you say different prayers on a chaplet than a rosary? are they used at different times or for different reasons?
The Divine Mercy Chaplet are all prayers to Jesus. they are much shorter and there are no mysteries to ponder while praying it. It is very simple, here is the whole thing:
1. Begin with the Sign of the Cross, say 1 Our Father, 1 Hail Mary and The Apostles Creed.
2. Then on the Our Father Beads say the following:
Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.
3. On the 10 Beads say the following:
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
(Repeat step 2 and 3 for all five decades).
4. Conclude with (three times):
Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
Is there some controversy with the Divine Mercy Chaplet that I don't know about? Why would a Catholic (I assume) be against it?
Oh please! Nobody prays TO a string of beads, that's just nonsense. The prayer is to God, the beads help me keep track of where I am in the chaplet.
When I pray I always pray from the heart, whether I make the words up on the spot or I use a beautiful pre-written prayer.
Vash, the fact that whoever told you this used the term "so-called" tells me that he/she was probably SSPX. The finding of the Divine Mercy chaplet and devotion to be worthy of belief, and Sr. Faustina's canonization for that matter, happened largely due to the efforts of John Paul II. They don't recognize any Pope after Pius X as legitimate, of course, and therefore whatever happened on the successive watches of John XXIII, Paul VI, JPI, JPII and Benedict XVI aren't recognized by them, either. Divine Mercy falls within that period, and obviously the Rosary does not as it's a much, much older devotion.
There was, as mentioned above, a minor controversy early on but it's no secret; it's is well-documented, in fact, and the restrictions have long since been lifted.
The advice may have come from a Catholic, but if my hunch is correct he/she is sadly not in communion with the Church. Honestly, that's the only reason I can think of for a Catholic to have a problem with the devotion to that extent; most others would simply choose not to pray it.
I pray both the Rosary and the Divine Mercy chaplet, and I find that's pretty common in my parish.
And how often do you practice this devotion? Why is it your favorite? And what is your second favorite devotion?
Rosary--and Mass- daily if possible. OOOps---I see----the Mass is number 1 then the Rosary then the Chaplet of Divine Mercy
I looked it up but still do not really understand?
The word rosary comes from Latin and means a garland of roses, the rose being one of the flowers used to symbolize the Virgin Mary The Rosary is a certain form of prayer wherein we say fifteen decades or tens of Hail Marys with an Our Father between each ten, while at each of these fifteen decades we recall successively in pious meditation one of the mysteries of our Redemption.
The Rosary as an object is a chaplet or string of beads. These beads are grouped in five sets of ten, or decades, with a large bead or other ornament separating each set. The beads culminate in a small medallion with the Virgin Mary's picture and then a small string of one bead, three beads and one bead, at the end of which is suspended a small crucifix. The chaplet may be a long string of beads, but is more commonly arranged to look like a necklace, although it is not worn as one.
The chaplet is used to pray the Rosary, a series of prayers and meditations on the life of Jesus Christ and his mother, the Virgin Mary. Devout Roman Catholics take the Rosary very seriously and use it as a means of meditation, as well as an intercessory prayer.

The bible tells us to "pray without ceasing." Surely, it is possible to pray while doing another task. I very often pray when I am beading. Maybe that begs the question, "what is prayer." In lieu of getting too deep into that topic right now, I am going to say that quiet, meditative prayer has certainly had a profound impact on my life. I savor that time I spend with Jesus. But, it is not the only way to pray and spend time with God.
One of the things that I know I need to work on is getting my physical self in better shape. I never worried much about my weight before, because it not much of an issue. Now that I have gotten older, my metabolism has most definitely slowed down, making exercise more of a need for my health. One of the problems is that I seem to get bored with it too fast.
