Most people really don't understand about The Holy Rosary which is used in Catholic Church?
Sanctus

I think we need to encourage each other to Pray, in families, in churches, in schools, everything. Catholics have a great blessing to pray The Holy Rosary. Do you know more about the HolY Rosary... try here for more info http://www.santorosario.net/english/index.htm

You have good comments there, thanks. But maybe u can recall Marian apparitions, She has been appearing to people ahroughout the two thousand years since she gave birth to Jesus. Mary gave rosary to saint Dominic around 1208 AD. There is good wealth of information regarding Marian Apparitions and how praying via her as intercessor to her son is rewarding. What do u say?

The Rosary is not something that leads us away from Jesus. In fact, it is a way to reflect upon the events found in the Gospels. Following are the events, or mysteries that are contemplated while praying the prayers and the virtue to pray for:

Joyful Mysteries
The Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Fruit of the Mystery: Humility
The Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Fruit of the Mystery: Love of Neighbor
The Nativity of Our Lord Fruit of the Mystery: Love of God
The Presentation of the Lord in the Temple Fruit of the Mystery: Obedience
The Finding in the Temple Fruit of the Mystery: Zeal for God

Luminous Mysteries

The Baptism of Jesus Fruit of the Mystery: Openness to the Holy Spirit
The Marriage at Cana Fruit of the Mystery: To Jesus through Mary
The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God Fruit of the Mystery: Repentance and Trust in God
The Transfiguration Fruit of the Mystery: Desire for Holiness
The Institution of the Eucharist Fruit of the Mystery: Adoration

Sorrowful Mysteries

The Crucifixion of Jesus - the fifth of the Sorrowful MysteriesThe Agony in the Garden Fruit of the Mystery: Contrition
The Scourging at the Pillar Fruit of the Mystery: Purity
The Crowning with Thorns Fruit of the Mystery: Courage
The Carrying of the Cross Fruit of the Mystery: Patience
The Crucifixion and Death of Jesus Fruit of the Mystery: Self-denial

The Glorious Mysteries

The Resurrection of Christ. Fruit of the Mystery: Faith
The Ascension of Jesus. Fruit of the Mystery: Hope
The Descent of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost. Fruit of the Mystery: Charity
The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Fruit of the Mystery: The grace of a Happy Death
The Coronation of Blessed Virgin Mary in Heaven. Fruit of the Mystery: Trust in Mary's intercession

If a person is merely just saying the prayers without any thought of what he or she is saying or with no thought on the mysteries, then yes, it would be vain repetition. Prayed correctly, the Rosary is a series of prayers done in repetition, much like some of the Psalms are repetitious, but it is not done in vain.

What is the purpose of the repititious holy rosary of the Catholic faith?
Greystones - Holy Rosary Church, La Touche Road

I have always been mystified by this. When I'm flipping through my cable channels, I often see a half-hour show, which I think is called 'The Holy Rosary of Sister Angela." I'm assuming this responsive chant is common in other Catholic religious places and ceremonies, but I just don't understand why it's done (I'm Protestant, non-denominational, but raised in a Baptist church). The same thin is repeated over and over. I haven't been patient enough to count and know if it's done a specified number of times. It sounds so expressionless, and I would think that after a while one would get really tired of doing it and begin to tune out and go on auto-pilot, or fall asleep. Is this a command in the Bible that they do this? If not, what is the origin of it? Why is this done rather than just talking or praying to God in a heart-felt prayer?

The rosary is a meditative prayer, while you are repeating the hail marys your mind is actually meditatin on the particular mistery of that decade. There are 20 misteries divided in 4 sets of 5 decades each. One decade consists of 1 Our father, 10 hail Mary and one Glory Be at the end of the decade.
The misteries are divided as follows:
Joyful misteries.
1.The annuntiation to the Virgin mary from The Angel
2. the visitation of mary to Elizabth
3. The Nativity of Our Lord jesus Christ
4. The presentation at the temple of Jesus
5. The finding of Jesus at the temple by the Virgin mary
Luminous misteries
6. The Baptism of our lord
7. The Wedding at cana
8. The proclamation of the Kingdom
9. the transfiguration
10. The institution of the Eucharist (the last supper)
Sorrowful misteries
11. The agony at the garden
12. The scourging at the pilar
13. The Crowning with thorns
14. The imposition of the cross
15. The crucifiction
The Glorious misteries
16. The resurrection
17. The Ascension into heaven
18. the descent of the Holy Spirit in Pentecost
19. The ascension of Mary to heaven
20. The coronation

The origin of the rosary is actually lost in time but it decends from the 50 psalter prayer beads cords that monks used to count prayers. It is a very popular devption within the catholic tradition, it is however not something required of all catholics to practice, but highly recommended to do because you actually are meditating on passages of the gospel. Each mistery yields one fruit as a result on your meditating on it. I like to pray the rosary a lot, and its power is amazing.

And is supposed to be said devoutedly and from the heart, by the way: heart felt prayer to God is the first kind of prayer one should do, the rosary does not substitute direct prayer to god, with your spirit, mind and heart elevated to HIM. We catholics pray also very deeply from our hearts and are capable of high mystical experiences of communion with God in private and communal prayer, especially at the eucharist, believe it.

Can anyone please tell me where Ronnie Drew's funeral will be held?
Greystones - Holy Rosary Church, La Touche Road

I know his wife's funeral was in Greystone's holy rosary church and I was wondering if Ronnie Drew's funeral was there as well. And for those who dont know who Ronnie Drew was he was the main singer of the Dubliners.

He only died yesterday so I doubt it has been arranged yet.

Holy week rosary?
Greystones - Holy Rosary Church, La Touche Road

Hi Christians, does anyone knows something like visiting the church and praying the rosary?

1) How many church should i visit?
2) In each visit should i recite the rosary prayer, does it mean it will take me about an hour for each church?
3) I see people are praying something in each station, what it is? They are reading something, isn't it the rosary?

Thanks in advanced and have a blessed Holy week!
Yes I know I can pray rosary anytime, but there are practices during this holy week. So I'm asking if is there any prayer aside from this or anything you know something like visiting church.

Hi,

You can but dont have to visit many churches. Just go to one Catholic church and pray (unless you are on a pilgrimage). If not in the main church you could also go to the chapel and recite the Rosary privately. You could also recite it before the Blessed Sacrament. You can recite the whole Rosary if you have time or part of it , like one or two decades.

When you see people praying at each Station they are praying the prayers of the Way of the Cross . I have given you a link to that. You can move from station to station saying the prayer corresponding to each. If you cannot do that you can also sit in a place and pray the Way of the Cross which includes the Preparatory prayer, the fourteen prayers(for 14 stations), Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory be five times in honor of Our Lord's Passion, and end with the Prayer to Jesus Crucified (also given in the link).

Hope this is clearer to you and hope you have a grace filled Holy Week! All the best!

Do you believe in the powers of the Holy Rosary?
Greystones - Holy Rosary Church, La Touche Road

Christians, can we vow to pray the rosary daily to obtain the graces and favors of the Blessed Virgin? It takes about 1% of your day.

The Fifteen Promises of Mary to Christians Who Recite the Rosary

1. Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the rosary shall receive signal graces.
2. I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the rosary.

3. The rosary shall be a powerful armour against hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies.

4. It will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.

5. The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the rosary shall not perish.

6. Whoever shall recite the rosary devoutly, applying himself to the consideration of its sacred mysteries shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise him in His justice, he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just he shall remain in the grace of God, and become worthy of eternal life.

7. Whoever shall have a true devotion for the rosary shall not die without the sacraments of the Church.

8. Those who are faithful to recite the rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plentitude of His graces; at the moment of death they shall participate in the merits of the saints in paradise.

9. I shall deliver from purgatory those who have been devoted to the rosary.

10. The faithful children of the rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in heaven.

11. You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the rosary.

12. All those who propagate the holy rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.

13. I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the rosary shall have for intercessors the entire celestial court during their life and at the hour of death.

14. All who recite the rosary are my sons, and brothers of my only son Jesus Christ.

15. Devotion of my rosary is a great sign of predestination.

(Given to St. Dominic and Blessed Alan) Imprimatur: +Patrick J. Hayes, D.D., Archbishop of New York

The Rosary, a mini bible of Jesus' and Mary's life. Do I believe in the power of the Rosary, I sure do. As St Pio said, It is a weapon against evil.
Has it worked in my life, It sure has. When a doctor says that your daughter cannot have children because of the cemo her husband was on, and now she is going to have a baby, Yes, I would say it worked. There is no way you can convince me other wise. Also praying the Rosary calms me and gives me patience, with everyday occurances that happen and make you nervous.
What harm is it doing if I feel great after doing my Rosary. It doesn't kill you and if you get all the promises that it awards you, how lucky for me. How about you when you find out that you should have done the Rosary, when you meet Jesus face to face and He asks why didn't you call on My Mother with Her Rosary. What will you say then.
It is said, If you believe and it isn't true, you have lost nothing, If you believe and it is true, you have gained everything. Where will you be if it is true, and I'm betting it is. God bless you.
