rosary bead necklace

my gpa passed away recently and i wanted to use his dog tag as a tattoo...instead of a standard dogtag neclace i wanted to use a rosary bead design because he was a very religeous person. would this be a good idea? how should i begin this? drawing it and showing the tattoo artists or what?

you could do that, and then take it to the artist and have him tweak it; or you could just go the shop tell him what you want and have him draw it up.

I would really like a necklace in the style of a rosary, i.e. y-shape, large round beads, metal links in between. However, I do not want an actual rosary as I am concerned that this would be disrespectful or sacrilegious. Does anyone know where I can find a necklace like this?

You can buy cheap ones at accessory stores. If you believe in a Christian God it doesn't matter. But it seems rather tasteless to wear a something venerated by Catholics like a rosary as a superficial fashion look.

Rosary beads are just that, beads. If you enjoy them, wear them. Sacrilege is is the use of holy objects in a non-religious manner. Christ says that none is holy but the Lord. Just be careful that your wearing of the beads is not a prideful thing. Pride would be the sin, not wearing the beads. May God bless you and give you peace.

My fiance is Catholic and has a lovely silver and white beaded necklace with a cross on the bottom (with an image of Jesus hanging on it). On the other sign there is a church symbol with the letter M on it. On another part of the necklace there are the letters TOTUS TVVS engraved on the silver.

What does all of this mean, and where should I store these beads? I have them hanging from a light on our computer desk, but want to make sure this is respectful.

the Totus tws could be Totus Tuis, which means Totally Yours.

Most likely it is blessed and should not be treated with dis-respect, but you do not have to keep it under glass or anything either, the Rosary is a set of Prayers to God asking our Holy Mother to intercede to Jesus on our behalf.

(We do not worship Mary) but ask her to pray for us.

I am glad that you are respectfull of her faith, that shows maturity on your part!

If your relationship progresses, please try to learn as much as possible about her faith. That will make things much easier if you eventually get married and have kids. Who knows, you may even join yourself!
