rosary ring

I have this rosary ring and was curious if its not acceptable for me to wear it on a necklace or not. Please someone let me know, i don't want to offend anyone by doing it if its not ok.

The Rosary is rarely worn. Some religious sisters in habits wear them.

If you choose to wear a Rosary then remember to behave accordingly. Just like wearing a Cross or Crucifix, you are telling the world that you believe in and are trying to live the Gospel message.

My father has a ring that was given to him after his father passed away. I wanted to get the ring melted down and made into a crucifix to put on a rosary. If anyone knows how I could go about doing this then I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks
ok whoa... maybe I took the meaning family heirloom out of context. It was my grandfathers ring who gave it to my father. I guess I don't know if that classifies it as a family heirloom. My father gave it to me to get it melted down into a ring for my fiancee. I thought that melting it down for a rosary that my dad would use would mean more to my father than just giving it back to him and having him stuff it in a drawer. I'm not a horrible person... a nice little explnation would of been better... Thanks to the ones who left me positive comments

Place the ring on your thumb and pray the Our Father at the crucifix and then rotate the ring until you feel the first bump and then pray a Hail Mary while reflecting on one of the mysteries in the life of Christ. Rotate the ring a little more until you feel the next bump and say another hail Mary. keep doing this until you feel the crucifix again. At this point say a Glory Be and then move the ring to your index finger.

Continue this until you have moved the ring to all five fingers to match the five mysteries of the Rosary. I keep a ring rosary on my key chain so I always have a rosary available.

Finger Ring Rosary

My boyfriend who is Catholic, gave me a rosary ring on Valentine's Day because it had sentimental value to him. So, I sort of wove it onto a few strings and wear it around my neck every day (Christ facing up). In terms of religion though, I'm Lutheran. So, is it considered sacreligious (offensive/spiteful) to Catholics that I wear it? If not, is it 'offensive' or 'inappropriate' that I wear it every day and not just in prayer? My boyfriend told me he liked what I'd done with it and that it was cute...so my guess is that he's not offended, but I'm thinking his parents might be if they see (I'm meeting them tonight). Is this bad?

It is inappropriate to wear it as jewelry, or decoration. If you are Catholic and you wear it or carry it for your faith, that is one thing, but to wear it for the reason you are, is offensive to most Catholics.

It is done in Spanish weddings.

The cord is done either right before the rings or right after. Also a similar blessing is done with coins. Some even have breaking of bread. These are all blessings, and symbolize the union and good fortune for the new couple. They are traditional blessings done by Spaniards, Cubans, Filipinos, etc. Basically any country who has had ties with Spain.
